Munich-based artist Angelika Bender-Wuehrl studied art education and then art history at the university of her hometown. In 1983, she became a member of the Association of Visual Artists (BBK) and in 1984, of the „Schutzverband Bildender Künstler“ (SBK). One year later, she joined the GEDOK, Munich. In its symbolism Angelika Bender-Wuehrl’s works evoke paintings from the 15th century. Clearly structured and oscillating between light and shadow, they deal with the depiction of reality. The beholder enters pictorial spaces of tranquility and meditation remarkable by pure colors and transparency. Arches, pillars, escalators and gates stressing geometrical shapes and offering a central perspective give access to various layers of meaning and reality.

Angelika Bender-Wuehrl’s paintings have been shown at Kunstpavillon (1988), Munich, Galerie am Schloss (2000), Weimar, and Augustinum (2002), Munich. Her work has been included in collections, such as Neue Pinakothek, Munich, and Creditanstalt Bankverein, Vienna.
