19th century
Munich and Düsseldorf School
Traditionally, the gallery’s focus lies on 19th century painting. The former “Hofkunsthandlung” (Art Gallery of the Court), dating itself from the 1820s, from the beginning, primarily supported its Munich contemporaries, but, even then, already presented selected paintings, watercolours and drawings by national and international artists.
