Charles Vetter
1858 Kahlstädt near Scheidemühl – Munich 1936
Secessionist Charles Vetter is famous for his impressionist city views of Munich which he made from the fin de siècle until the 1930s. His works are characterized by an industrialized urbanization that develops a dynamic from the traffic flow and the activities of the citizens. Vetter is interested in the light conditions of rainy days when wet streets and blurry surfaces reflect illuminated apartment windows and light changes in the sky.
